The first St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery is located behind the present church building, and was established in 1829 on land purchased for the church by its pastor, Rev. Francis Cellini (first Pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Parish). This cemetery was used until 1914, when the City of Fredericktown passed an ordinance that burials could no longer take place within the city limits.
In 1914, the Budenholzer Family, parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, donated 13 acres of land on which the present cemetery is located. Originally called Calvary Cemetery, the name was changed in the 1980s to St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. It is located northeast of town, on Village Creek Road.
